FLORIDA — Tropical Storm Cristobal continues to move quickly eastward across the Atlantic Ocean and currently poses no threat to Florida, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Cristobal is located well west-southwest of the Azores and is producing tropical-storm-force winds southeast of its center.

The storm has maximum sustained winds of 45 mph and a minimum central pressure of 1008 millibars. Cristobal is moving east at 21 mph.

Forecasters expect the storm to turn toward the east-northeast and slow down Wednesday night. Gradual weakening is forecast, with Cristobal expected to dissipate Thursday.

While Cristobal is moving away from the United States, the National Hurricane Center is monitoring two other systems in the Atlantic for possible tropical development.

Florida residents are encouraged to continue monitoring the tropics as the Atlantic hurricane season moves through its traditionally more active months.
